Bradley, Curran edge English, Thompson at CVS Health Charity Classic

June 30, 2015

BARRINGTON – In a perfect world, former PGA stars Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade would have captured this summer’s version of the CVS Health Charity Classic, the tournament the two gracious Rhode Islanders co-founded back in 1999 to raise much-needed money for local charities.

It would have been most appropriate if they had. After all, in the previous 16 events, they – with the help of CVS and other sponsors – have collected and doled out over $18 million to organizations who desperately need financial aid to survive.

June 29, 2015

CUMBERLAND  –  Lizzie Pickering could barely contain her excitement.

When batterymate Gabby D’Intino tossed to first baseman Abbie Vallely for the final out, the Cumberland All-Stars immediately celebrated a 10-3 victory over Lincoln, one that delivered them the R.I. Little League District IV Major Division (11-12) Tournament championship at Diamond Hill Park on Monday evening.

“This is amazing!” the backstop Pickering gushed afterward. “I started crying because I was so happy we won.”

June 27, 2015

BURRILLVILLE  –  Way back in October, Sydney Blais decided more or less on a whim to travel to Southern New Hampshire University for an open house. She had heard it maintained a respected program in Baking and Pastry Arts, a passionate interest of hers.

When the Burrillville High senior first set eyes on the campus just outside Manchester, she fell in love with the quaint, small-school atmosphere, and chose to further her academic and athletic careers there.
