NORTH SMITHFIELD- Maurice L. Monty, 61, of Woonsocket Hill Rd., died September 2, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of Michele E. (Woodworth) Gerber Monty.
Born in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Maurice A. Monty and Jeannette (Paquette) Lockwood of Marion, MA.
He worked as a rater for the Veterans Association Regional Office of Rhode Island. Mr. Monty served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Besides his wife and his mother, he is survived by their daughter Mandy Hervieux of Arizona; two step daughters, Jessica and Laura Gerber both of North Smithfield; five brothers and two sisters all of whom live in Massachusetts; his granddaughter, Raquel and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister.
His burial with full military honors will be held at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Off of Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA. Calling hours are Friday, October 4, 2013 from 4-8 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
