WOONSOCKET Rita H. (Lafond) Roy, 93, of Trinity, FL formerly of Woonsocket, died Thursday August 15, 2013 at the Trinity Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Adrien Roy with whom she had been married for seventy years.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Helen (Belanger) Lafond.
Rita was an assembler for the former US Rubber Company for twenty nine years. She also worked at AT Cross for eleven years, before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the All Saints Christian Group at Holy Family Church.
Rita is survived by her sons, Roger A. Roy of Trinity, FL and Robert E. Roy of Swansea, MA. She leaves four loving grandchildren; Michael Roy, Matthew Roy, Tracey Cournoyer, and Wendy Roy. She was also the sister of the late Alphonse, Paul and Wilfred Lafond.
Her funeral with visitation will be held Saturday, at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Church, South Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in her memory would be appreciated. Please visit
