William R. Lemieux

WOONSOCKET- William R. Lemieux, 82, of Flora Avenue died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. He was the beloved husband of Theresa P. (Gilbert) Lemieux. Mr. and Mrs. Lemieux were married 60 years on January 24, 2013.
Born in Manville, a son of the late Fabien and Mary (Cusson) Lemieux, he had lived in Woonsocket since 1954.
Mr. Lemieux was a supervisor at the former American Can Company for 22 years until its closing. He later worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Enrico Caruso Club, Manville, and Cercle Laurier, the Italian Workingman's Club, and a life-member of Woonsocket Lodge of Elks #850, all of Woonsocket.
A Korean War Navy veteran, he was a member of Alphonse Yelle Post #9, American Legion and DAV Post #12, both of Manville, and the AMVETS Post in Woonsocket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jeanne M. Lafond and her family of Manville; one son, Charles W. Lemieux and his family of Harrisville; one sister, Theresa Plante of Woonsocket; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Herve, Arthur, Lionel and Albert Lemieux.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Holiday Nursing Staff for all their kindness and help.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held SATURDAY, APRIL 20 at 10 A.M. in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial, with military honors, will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln FRIDAY 4-7 P.M.
