BLACKSTONE- Barbara J. (Tibbetts) Gallagher, 90, of Foxbrook Manor, died Friday, February 15, 2013 in St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Gallagher.
Born in Worcester, MA, the daughter of the late Stewart and Sarah (McCaffrey) Tibbetts, she was a Blackstone resident for most of her life.
After raising her nine children, Mrs. Gallagher worked as a Dietary Aide in the St. Antoine Residence for seventeen years retiring in 1994. A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Paul's Church, Blackstone.
She is survived by her children; Mary Enos and Barbara Hufstedler of Lakeland, FL; Joseph Gallagher, James Gallagher and Patricia Elston of Woonsocket, RI; Maureen Lomberto and Christine Gallagher O'Hern of Cranston, RI; Ann Lafayette and Thomas Gallagher of Blackstone, MA; 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Stewart Tibbetts and Eleanor Briggs.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI 02895, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Paul's Church, St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AUTISM SPEAKS, New England Chapter, 990 Washington Street, Suite 102, Dedham, MA 02026 or to the Blackstone- Millville Food Pantry, c/o Ann Lesperance, PO Box 738, Millville, MA 01529.
