BELLINGHAM â€” Election season in Bellingham is officially under way.
Town Clerk Ann L. Odabashian has posted the calendar for the 2013 town election season. Nomination papers are now available in the town clerk's office; the last day to obtain papers is March 7.
Candidates must return papers with the signatures of at least 50 registered voters by March 26 to make it onto the ballot. The annual town election is slated Tuesday, May 7.
There is one three-year seat on the Board of Selectmen held by incumbent Daniel M. Spencer up for grabs, as is the three-year town clerk position now held by Odabashian.
There are three open seats on the School Committee, including two three-year seats held by incumbents Ronald L. Martel and Francis E. Cartier, and a one-year seat held by incumbent Michael B. Carr.
There are four three-year posts for constable. Those seats are held now by incumbent Constables Richard J. Martinelli, William J. Spear Jr., David H. Brown and Norman L. McLinden Sr.
Rounding out the ballot is one three-year town moderator spot held by incumbent Richard W. Singleton and two Housing Authority seats: a five-year seat held by incumbent Edward W. Guzowski and a three-year unexpired seat that was held by Charles O. Swain.
There are also two three-year spots on the Board of Library Trustees up for grabs. Those posts are currently held by Michael B. Carr and Russell E. Lafond.
Finally, there are four seats on the Planning Board available, including two three-year seats held by Patricia M. Murphy and Peter C. Pappas; a two-year unexpired term that was held by Roger Oakley; and a one-year unexpired term that was held by Peter Morelli.

â€¢ Thursday, March 7: Last day to obtain nomination papers from the town clerk.
â€¢ Tuesday, March 12: Last day to return nomination papers to the town clerk for submission to Board of Registrars.
â€¢ Thursday, March 28: Last day to withdraw and or object to nomination papers.
â€¢ Wednesday, April 17: Last day to register to vote in the election.
â€¢ Tuesday, May 7: Annual town election.
â€¢ Friday, May 10: Last day to file a recount petition.
