SLATERSVILLE- June D. (Allard) Gurka, 84, of Orchard Street, No. Smithfield, died January 31, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Walter P. Gurka, whom she married June 6, 1947.
Born in No. Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dora (Allaire) Allard.
June worked for thirty years as an assembler for the Amprex Electronic Co. retiring in 1990. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an avid BINGO player.
She is survived by her two children, Nancy Jacob of Slatersville and Richard Gurka of Bristol; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Allard and her son-in-law Arthur Jacob.
Her funeral will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:30 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church Street, Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 - 7 PM.
