January 27, 2013

WOONSOCKET – Police arrested two Woonsocket High School students on charges of possession of marijuana after investigating a report of smoking in a bathroom of the nearby Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center on Thursday.
Nicholas Caterino, 18, was charged with possession of marijuana, a first offense, after Patrolman Michael Theroux, a police department school resource officer, found him in possession of a bag of marijuana and a bong during an investigation of the incident at the school, according to police.
School staff members had detected an odor of marijuana in the Career Center’s bathroom and notified Theroux of the incident.
Caterino and two juvenile male students, 16 and 17, were identified as being in the bathroom prior to the discovery but denied smoking marijuana in the school.
Theroux located a bag of marijuana on the 17-year-old student and charged him with possession, a first offense, according to police. The third youth was released without charges. Caterino and the 17-year-old were released to the custody of family following processing on the charges, according to police.
