WOONSOCKET- Mary Ellen (Harvey) Bliss, 95, of Woonsocket, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in the Ballou Home. She was the wife of the late Joseph Ambrose Bliss.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Agnes (Daniels) Harvey.
Mrs. Bliss was a 1935 graduate of Woonsocket High School. She was employed by Uniroyal and later for the State of Rhode Island Unemployment Office. Mrs. Bliss was a member of Slatersville Congregational Church. She was a former member of Globe Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Bliss was a member of the Blue Home Aid Association and served on its board.
She leaves her son, Charles W. Bliss, Sr. and his wife Nancy of North Smithfield; three grandchildren, Charles W. Bliss, Jr. and his wife Maria of Greensboro, NC, David A. Bliss of Cumberland and Amy E. Bliss of Slatersville; four great grandchildren, Mikayla, Emily Rose, Addison and Kaitlyn Bliss; and her sister, Ada Hoyle of Slatersville. She was predeceased by her brother, John C. Harvey.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Burial will be private. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice of RI, 1 Catamore Boulevard, East Providence, RI 02914.
