NORTH SMITHFIELD-Roland R. Gross, 64, of Forestdale, died Friday, December 7, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Jeanne M. (Lataille) Gross, whom he married April 21, 2012.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Vernon D. Gross and Aurore (Benoit) Gross-Menard.
Roland was a technician for Northeast Fire & Safety, Bellingham, MA, retiring in 2010. He was the co-owner of the former Veterans Furniture. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. Roland was a communicant of Precious Blood Church. He was a volunteer at St. Agatha's Food Pantry.
Besides his wife, Roland leaves four brothers, Vernon Gross, Jr. of No. Smithfield, Richard Gross of Ranshaw, PA, and Lucien and Edmond Menard, both of Woonsocket; five sisters, Ellen Bergeron, Laura Tellier, May Roy, Theresa and Denise Bourget, all of Woonsocket; 31 nephews and nieces; 65 grand nephews and nieces. His stepfather, Edmond O. Menard, predeceased him.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Precious Blood Church, 94 Carrington Ave. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
