Public invited to give input on future of Main Street

December 8, 2012

WOONSOCKET – The second of three installments in a workshop series to brainstorm ideas for Main Street’s future is scheduled for Wednesday, and City Planner Jennifer Siciliano is once again extending an open invitation to the public.
The event will be held at Stage Right Studio, 68 South Main St., from 6-8 p.m.
The aim of the workshop is to develop and refine ideas for making Main Street both business- and pedestrian-friendly, according Siciliano.
Approximately 50 people attended the first session. She says the upcoming session will be used to fine-tune some of the ideas that surfaced during the earlier event, including the feasibility of widening some sidewalks and converting some one-way streets to two-ways. Marked bicycle lanes for some streets will also be on the agenda.
“We will be discussing recommendations for streetscape, transportation patterns and zoning in the Main Street area,” said Siciliano. “If you want to voice your opinion on the future of Main Street, please attend this event.”
Participants will enjoy free snacks.
If planning to attend, please RSVP to Siciliano by Dec. 10 by calling 767-1418 or sending an email to jsiciliano@woonsocketri.org.
