PROVIDENCE – At one point during the second half of Tuesday night's game against Holy Cross, Providence head coach Ed Cooley turned around and urged the crowd – announced at 4,596 – to get behind his Friars.
After his team ran past the Crusaders in 61-42 fashion, Cooley went out of his way to make sure the Friar Faithful shows a little more enthusiasm when Mississippi State pays a visit to The Dunk on Saturday afternoon. The game will air on ESPNU.
“I really hope our fans appreciate the effort and energy of our players,” stated Cooley. “We’re going to need a lot more energy on Saturday, playing against a SEC opponent. Our players deserve to play in front of a full house on national television. We need a lot of energy in the building.
“The more seats you have filled … any time you play in front of a big crowd, our players really get excited,” Cooley added.
