CHEPACHET - Merriam (Naylor) Fortune, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 in North Providence surrounded by her family. Born in North Providence she was the daughter of the late Harold Sr. and Mildred (Smith) Naylor. She lived in Burrillville for more than 30 years before moving to Chepachet.
Merriam worked as a Food Service Supervisor at Zambarano Hospital for over 25 years before retiring. She loved gardening, flowers and cooking but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by five sons, Roger Fortune Jr., Kenneth Fortune, and Robert Fortune, all of Chepachet, Thomas Fortune Sr. of Pascoag and Arthur Fortune Sr. of Mapleville, three daughters, Karen Croteau, and Debra Bishop, both of North Providence, Robin Cote of Lee, FL, a step-daughter Cheryl Ann, a brother, Harold Naylor Jr. of New Bern, NC, a sister Susan Naylor of North Providence, thirty grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Ivy Turner, and grandmother of the late Robert Fortune.
Her funeral beginning with visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at 9AM with a service at 11AM in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
