WOONSOCKET – Summer is here and with it new opportunities at the YWCA on Blackstone Street for girls to make the most of their time off from school.
Meghan Grady, YWCA chief operating officer, said Friday that the organization has created a new summer program for girls ages 5 to 9 aimed at building self-esteem through physical activity and games.
The “GoGirlGo” summer daycamp program was developed by the national Women's Sports Foundation to get young women to develop their interest in athletics at an early age.
The program will be offered at both the Woonsocket and Central Falls YWCA through the summer.
