WOONSOCKET- Henry R. "Butsy" Scott of Woonsocket, died on May 2, 2012 at the age of 93. Henry was the husband of the late Irene B. (Provencal) Scott.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Henry and Lillian (Bernhard) Scott.
After his service in the Army, he managed deliveries for both Mullen's and Carney's furniture stores, was a maintenance mechanic at Uniroyal Tires (Rubber Shop) and retired as Building Superintendent for the Woonsocket Call. In his retirement he continued to work at the RI ARC until the age of 86.
Henry was one who gave back to the community. He served as RI State Representative in the early 60's, he played for and coached local softball teams into his mid-70's and was always there for friends and neighbors in need.
Henry is survived by; sons, Robert and his wife Carol of Woonsocket and Earl of Tarzana Ca.; daughter, Nancy of Provincetown, MA.; brother, Harold of Woonsocket and sister Margie Gentile of Woonsocket; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Raymond Scott and brother of the late Walter and Earl Scott, Dorothy King and Donna Kasowski.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
