NORTH SMITHFIELD- Helen G. (Wilson) Carpenter, 94, of Farnum Pike, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in Hebert Nursing Home, Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Norris O. Carpenter, Sr.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Nellie (Wright) Wilson.
Mrs. Carpenter worked as an assembler for Amperex No. Smithfield, retiring in 1975. She was previously employed by several other local textile mills. A lifelong member of Primrose Grange #9, Helen enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidery.
She is survived by two sons, Norris Carpenter, Jr. of Clayville, and Ronald Carpenter of Pawtucket, a daughter, Kathleen Sweeney of Woonsocket, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert Wilson and Anna Simpson.
Calling hours will be held Sunday Dec. 18, 2011 from 4-7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Woonsocket. The funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice, Inc., One Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914 or to VNA Care of New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
