NO. SMITHFIELD- Alfred "Fritz" J. DiSalvo, 87, of Merrimac Rd., died Thursday, April 21, 2011 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Bray) DiSalvo whom he married June 19, 1948.
Born in No. Providence, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Antonia (Calci) DiSalvo.
Mr. DiSalvo had worked twenty five years at Electric Maintenance & Engineering Co, Woonsocket and then worked twelve years at Miriam Hospital, Providence, before retiring in 1985. A WWII Army Veteran, he was an a Communicant of St. Anthony's Church, an artist who enjoyed painting, sculpting and etching and was a member of the Providence Art Club, Rockport Art Association and Whiskey Painters of America.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, George H. Roberts, IV of Lincoln, a daughter, Judith A. Mazzarella of Woonsocket, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Kathleen V. Bowen and brother of the late Louis, Peter and Rena "Ede" Viscione, Vivian Goretti and Mary Olivastro.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Anthony's Church, 128 Greene St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:30 - 8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906
