HUSTON, TX- Dorice L. Savoie, born June 2, 1926, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday April 14, 2011 after her courageous battle with cancer. Dorice was preceded in death by her late husband Wilfred R. Savoie, and her parents George Heroux and Lovia (Latour) Heroux.
Dorice was a former member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and served as Vice President and President while living in Rhode Island. As a resident of Houston, she served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas Aquinas church in Sugar Land, was a member of the women's barbershop singing group the "Decibells". Dorice was a committed and active resident in her community both at AHEP and West Oaks Terrace for 13 years. She volunteered countless hours with the social activities, office staff, fire captain for her area, as well as being a hall monitor. Her door was always open to anyone in need of assistance.
Dorice was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her 3 children, Micheline Peter and her husband Tim of England, Raymond Savoie and his wife Kathy of New York, and Giselle and her husband Wayne Anthony of Houston, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 12627 West Bellfort, in Sugar Land, Texas on April 27th at 3:00 p.m.
