Cumberland keeping tax rate level

June 8, 2014

CUMBERLAND – The Town Council has approved Mayor Daniel McKee’s final town budget by a 5-2 majority vote.

The budget was approved unchanged from McKee’s proposal for a total general fund budget of $88,032,456 for 2014-15 that is expected to keep the same $17.08 per $1,000 tax rate now supporting the town’s current budget.

The sum includes $58,484,710 for schools, which provides an additional $1.8 million in increased state aid and local support.

The town’s projected support for schools will also included the one-time use of $651,114 for computer tablet purchases and other media materials for local schools and a $100,000 contribution to support under performing local schools in their bid to achieve testing goals.
