NORTH SMITHFIELD- Andre J. Remillard 89, formerly of Lantern Apts. in North Smithfield, died Tuesday at Berkshire Place in Providence. He was the husband of Rita (Bergeron) Remillard.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Anaclet and Aldora (Dubois) Remillard. Andre was a WWII Army Corporal serving with the 489th Antiaircraft Battalion.
He participated in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. Andre was a firefighter for the City of Woonsocket for thirty five years retiring in 1989 as Deputy Fire Chief. He was a member of the Firemen's Relief Association, the International Association of Firefighters and the American Legion Post #62.
Besides his wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Phillip Remillard.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 AM, from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home. 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham.
