APPLE VALLEY, CA- Henry J. Roy 91, resident of Apple Valley, CA for the last 20+ years previously of Yucca Valley, CA, Woonsocket RI, Bellingham, MA & Kingston, MA passed away on January 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at the Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA.
He was born on July 6, 1922 in Bromptonville (now known as Sherbrook) Quebec, Canada. The son of the late Urban and Marie Louise (Duchesnau) Roy of Kingston, RI. He worked as a Carpenter until he retired at the age of 71.
As a Corporal in the Army Air Corps 1985th Quartermaster Truck Company from March 12, 1943 thru February 28, 1946, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
Survivors include, his wife of 66 years, Theresa (Lebeau) Roy, sons: Henry J. Roy Jr. of Libby, MT & George Roy of Apple Valley, CA, daughters: Louise Hadley of Uxbridge, MA, Diane Desmarais, Pauline Briggs & Jo-Ann Moore all of Apple Valley, CA and Doris Benoit of Colton, CA, 16 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren and his siblings: brother, Urban Roy & sister, Rita Beauparlant both of Woonsocket, RI.
Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the High Desert Funeral Chapel and Cremation, 16545 Bear Valley Road, Hesperia, CA 92345, 760-244-1400, http://www.highdesertfuneral.com
Burial Services to be held on Friday, January 24th at 10:30 AM at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518, 951-653-8417
