North Smithfield's Sherman winding down hockey career at Vermont prep school

Cassandra Sherman may be only 17 years old, but the North Smithfield native has seen more of New England, New York state, and eastern Canada than the average adult three times her age has.
She’s seen plenty of southern New England during her days in youth hockey, and she’s played in every hockey arena in this state during her freshman and sophomore seasons on the North Smithfield High girls’ team.

School Committee to consider State Police probe

WOONSOCKET — The School Committee appears headed toward another difficult session on Wednesday, this time for an expected debate on whether to seek a State Police investigation into its budgeting errors and a reported language lapse in a school department employment contract.
